The Part Nobody Tells You

Epic will not certify you. A hospital has to hire you first.

There is no public storefront for Epic certification — no course you can buy, no exam you can book on your own. Epic trains and certifies people through their employers. A health system has to hire you, sponsor you, and send you to training. So the first move was never studying. The first move is the map: knowing exactly which employers can open the door, and how to read their postings before you ever apply.

No. 1

No self-enrollment

Epic does not sell certification to individuals. If a website offers to “get you Epic certified” for a fee, it is not how the door actually opens.

No. 2

Sponsorship comes first

The sequence is hire, then sponsor, then train, then certify. Every strategy that starts with studying starts one step too late.

No. 3

The posting tells you

Employers who hire first and certify after say so — in the posting itself. This book teaches you the exact language to look for, system by system.

No. 4

Step one is the map

404 verified Epic health systems, organized state by state and metro by metro, each with a direct line to its careers board. That is this book.

All 50 states, grouped the way you’ll search

One chapter per state, with each state’s Epic health systems organized by metro and region — so you start where you actually live, or where you’re willing to go.

    404 verified Epic health systems

Every system in the book is a confirmed Epic customer — verified during the October 2026 research pass, not scraped from a stale list.

  • iii.

A direct careers link for every system

No homepages, no dead ends. Each listing goes straight to the system’s own careers board — 402 clickable links in the PDF.

Sponsor signals, quoted from real postings

The phrases that reveal whether an employer hires first and certifies after — harvested from live postings during research, so you learn to spot them anywhere.

“Reading a Posting in 10 Seconds”

The method, printed in every chapter: the lines to find, the order to read them in, and what each one really means for an outsider applying in.

  • vi.

    The filterable spreadsheet edition

The same directory as a spreadsheet — filter by state, metro, or system, and track every application alongside the book.

The language that opens doors

Must obtain certification within 180 days
Epic experience preferred but not required

Lines like these, quoted from real postings, are the tell: this employer hires first and certifies after. The Directory teaches you to find them in seconds — and flags them throughout every chapter.

How It Works

Five moves, in order.

The Directory is built to be used, not just read. This is the working order — the same sequence, whether your state chapter runs two pages or twenty.

  1. 01

    Find your state

Open your chapter. Every verified Epic health system in the state is there, grouped by metro and region, each with its direct careers link.

  2. 02

    Pick your starting systems

Don’t work all 404 at once. Each chapter points you to the systems to start with — the ones whose postings speak most openly to outsiders.

  3. 03

Search their boards with the given terms

Every chapter includes the exact board search terms for your background, so you’re searching the way the roles are actually titled — not guessing.

  4. 04

Read the posting the way the book teaches

Ten seconds, sponsor signals first. The method shows you which lines mean “we will train you” and which mean “certified only, please.”

  5. 05

Apply where the language says the door is open

Spend your applications where the posting itself says the door is open — and track every one in the spreadsheet edition as you go.

Chapter Spotlight

New York, in full.

The deepest chapter in the book. New York gets the complete treatment — region by region, with a starting three for each, the search terms for your background, and a week-long plan that ends with applications out the door.

New York City

The five boroughs — the densest concentration of Epic systems in the state.

Long Island

Nassau and Suffolk — large systems, deep analyst benches.

Hudson Valley & Westchester

The corridor north of the city, from Westchester up the river.

Capital Region

Albany and the surrounding counties.

Rochester & Finger Lakes

Anchored by Rochester’s academic and community systems.

Buffalo & Western New York

Buffalo, Niagara, and the Southern Tier’s western edge.

Central New York

Syracuse and the I-90 corridor.

Southern Tier

Binghamton and the Pennsylvania border counties.

Your starting three

Each region opens with the three systems to work first — and why.

Search terms by background

The roles are titled differently depending on where you’re coming from. The chapter gives board search terms by background — clinical, billing/revenue cycle, patient access, and healthcare IT/support — so your search matches the posting, not the job you imagine.

Read the salary range — New York shows it

New York law requires a salary range in job postings, and that range is information. The chapter shows you how to use it: a range tells you the seniority the employer is really buying, whether a “entry-level” title is truly entry-level, and how an offer should sit before you ever speak to a recruiter.

Paired with the sponsor-signal language, the range turns a posting into a ten-second decision — apply, watch, or pass.

The 7-Day New York Plan

One focused move per day, from opening the chapter to applications submitted.

  1. Day 1

Choose your ground. Read the chapter and pick your region — or the two you’d genuinely move for.

  2. Day 2

Meet your starting three. Open their careers boards and learn how each one titles its roles.

  3. Day 3

Search like an insider. Run the chapter’s search terms for your background on all three boards.

  4. Day 4

Read in ten seconds. Work every result through the method — sponsor signals and salary range first.

  5. Day 5

Build the short list. Move the open doors into the spreadsheet and rank them.

  6. Day 6

Tailor and apply. Applications out, written to the language each posting uses.

  7. Day 7

Widen the map. Take the same routine to the next region — the method travels.

From the recruiter’s desk — Maison DCN

Meet Maison

Built from the recruiter’s side of the desk.

Maison DCN’s products are built by an HR recruiter who screens healthcare candidates for a living — someone who reads the same postings you do, and knows which lines in them decide who gets a call.

That is why this house works in steps. Step one is the map — find the employers who can hire and certify you. Step two is getting chosen once you’re in front of them. The Directory is step one, done properly.

The Honest Part

What this book can —
and cannot — promise.

No book can promise

  • A job. Hiring decisions belong to employers, full stop.
  • Sponsorship. Whether a system sponsors certification is decided per posting, by that employer, at that moment.
  • An interview. The Directory gets you to the right doors with your eyes open — what happens at the door is yours.

What this one guarantees

  • Verified systems. Every health system in the book is a confirmed Epic customer.
  • Working careers links. Direct links to each system’s own careers board, checked in the October 2026 research pass.
  • Real posting language. The sponsor signals are quoted from actual postings — not invented examples.
  • Free updates. When a new edition lands, buyers re-download it free from the Gumroad library.

Every retail copy is personalized — the buyer’s email is stamped on each page of your edition.

Questions

Before you ask.

Is this Epic training or exam prep?

No — and that is deliberate. This is step one only: the map of employers who can hire and certify you. Training comes after a hospital hires you; this book exists to get you to that hospital.

Do I need a healthcare background?

Yes — realistically, some kind of healthcare background. The employers in this directory sponsor people whose experience they can use: clinical work, HIM/medical records, billing and revenue cycle, patient access/registration, or IT and support roles inside healthcare. If you have none of that yet, the directory still shows you the map, but your first move is a foot-in-the-door healthcare role (patient access, help desk, super-user, go-live support) — the chapters flag those entry points. It will not make someone with zero healthcare experience an analyst candidate overnight.

How do updates work?

Updated editions are free to buyers. When a new edition is published, re-download it from your Gumroad library — no second purchase, no upgrade fee.

What if I need a refund?

Contact Maison DCN through Gumroad within 14 days of purchase and we’ll make it right.
